It's NBC's largest overall audience -- other than sports programming -- since Carrie Underwood headlined The Sound of Music Live in December 2013.

FEMINIST WRITER NOT A TAYLOR SWIFT FAN.

We thought everyone loved Taylor Swift, but feminist writer Camille Paglia has hit back at the superstar, saying she's a bad role model -- and much, much worse things.

Paglia, who has previously bashed Lady Gaga and Madonna, writes in the Hollywood Reporter, "Swift herself should retire that obnoxious Nazi Barbie routine of wheeling out friends and celebrities as performance props, an exhibitionistic overkill. Girl squads are only an early learning stage of female development. For women to leave a lasting mark on culture, they need to cut down on the socializing and focus like a laser on their own creative gifts.”

MUSHROOM DUDE LOOKS LIKE A FUNGI

Mushroom mugshot

A Pennsylvania man was arrested after he invited cops into his apartment where he was growing 70 psychedelic mushroom plants.

Police responded to a disturbance call inside a public housing complex and found 41-year-old David Kalb standing outside a neighbor's apartment. He told them he lost the key to his apartment and was trying to get a spare from his neighbor. So officers accompanied him as he retrieved the extra key and walked him back to his apartment. Once they got there, Kalb invited the officer inside and they quickly spotted the mushroom plants and other drug paraphernalia.

Kalb was arrested on a number of drug-related charges and is going to be evicted from his public housing. But you wouldn't know how much trouble he's in by looking at his happy mugshot.

Willard Scott is hanging up his microphone.

The legendary Today show weatherman and birthday greeter will retire from NBC next Tuesday after a 65-year career in broadcasting.

The suburban DC native got his start as an NBC page in Washington in 1950. A year later, he got behind the mic at American University's campus station. He and classmate and lifelong pal Ed Walker formed a comic DJ duo that they later dubbed The Joy Boys. They took their act to commercial radio in 1955 and enjoyed a successful 17-year run. Walker, working solo, remained a fixture on DC stations until his death in October.

By the mid-'60s, Scott had branched out into hosting local TV kids shows -- and was the first announcer cast as Ronald McDonald. (Check out the video below)
As the '70s began, he became the comic weatherman on NBC's Washington station -- a job which led to his promotion to the network'sToday show in 1980. He retired from forecasting in the mid-'90s, but remained with the show, doing twice-weekly birthday shoutouts to viewers turning 100.
