The D.A. Of The Day - 1/15/16

NOSY TOURIST KISSES SNAKE:

It's hard to imagine any circumstance when kissing a python on the lips would be a good idea, but a Chinese tourist decided to ignore common sense and went in for a smooch anyway.

The 29-year-old woman visited an animal park in Thailand last weekend and tried to give the python a little peck. But the snake wasn't exactly interested in some lovin' -- and chomped down on the woman's nose and refused to let go. The incident was caught on video, and you can hear bystanders screaming in horror as two snake handlers tried to pry the snake's mouth open.

NAKED PREACHER BUSTED AT WAFFLE HOUSE;

Police in Georgia arrested a naked woman who walked around a Waffle House restaurant preaching to customers and throwing punches and plates at them.

Witnesses say Jennifer Nicholson visited the Waffle House in Kennesaw, Georgia and preached to diners before stripping off her clothes and allegedly punching a woman in the nose, chest and arm. She then started throwing plates around. Another diner claims the woman grabbed him and put him in a bear hug.

When police arrived, they found Nicholson naked on her knees next to a booth that a man was sitting at. When she noticed the officers, she started screaming and throwing plates at them, so they Tased her. But the probe came loose, and she attacked the officers and scratched one of them on the chin. She was eventually subdued and taken into custody.
She's been hit with a bunch of charges, including battery, indecent exposure, criminal damage to property, and obstruction of officers.

CROOK GETS TEA-BAGGED

Trouble is brewing for a Florida man who's accused of crashing a stolen car he used in a home robbery -- then returning to the wreck to retrieve an iced tea bottle he thought might incriminate him.

Bryan Lindor is accused of breaking into the house with a 17-year-old accomplice, but fleeing the scene quickly after being scared off by a burglar alarm. They hopped into a hot Kia and sped away, but Lindor wrecked the vehicle and ran off on foot -- only to return a few minutes later when he remembered that he'd left the tea, with his fingerprints and DNA.

Lindor's mom insists that he's innocent and was using the phone at her home at the time of the crime -- to talk to his brother about getting a job as a security guard.

STONER SON ATTACKS MOM OVER POT EATING PUP

Police in Florida arrested a man after he beat up his mother -- because her dog had eaten his marijuana.

25-year-old Mackenzie Freeman, a pothead who lives with his 57-year-old mother, became angry after her dog got into his stash and chowed down. Freeman is accused of pushing his mom to the ground and hitting her in the head with a pair of pants. He also allegedly punched several holes in the wall.

As officers arrived at the home, Freeman took off running but was apprehended a short distance away. He admitted to pushing his mother to the floor but told cops that she deserved it. He was booked on charges of domestic battery, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting an officer. It's not known how much marijuana the dog ate or if it experienced any side effects other than the munchies.

He was arrested last year but released after claiming it was self-defense.

The musical was released in 1975 and went on to become a cult classic.

“I grew up watching “Rocky Horror,” but could never imagine that I would be part of this new vision,” Lambert told “People.” The movie always made me feel like it was okay to celebrate my weirdness. Hallelujah, bless my soul!  I love that old time rock-n-roll!”

Originally Lambert was one of the actors being considered for the Frank-N-Furter role, but it went to Laverne Cox of the popular “Orange Is The New Black.”

Fox’s two-hour “Rocky Horror Picture Show” will air this fall.

THE TWANG TOWN LOWDOWN - 1/14/16

CERTIFIED PLATINUM – CARRIE UNDERWOOD

Carrie Underwood has earned a Platinum certification by the RIAA for her first compilation record, Greatest Hits: Decade #1. What makes this accomplishment even more exciting is the fact that Underwood is the only country artist – and one of only six all-genre artists – to release a Platinum album since the release of her Greatest Hits: Decade #1 record in December of 2014. The 25-song album features hits from the first 10 years of Carrie's career and also introduced two new #1 songs: the Grammy-winning "Something in the Water," as well as "Little Toy Guns," which is currently nominated for Best Country Solo Performance at the 2016 Grammy Awards. The 58th Annual Grammy Awards will be held February 15, 2016, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS at 7PM.

Underwood earned her 7th Grammy Award at last year's show, winning for Best Country Solo Performance for "Something in the Water." Carrie -- who was pregnant at the time -- wasn't able to attend last year's Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, but she did watch the show from her home in Nashville.

THE ANTICS CONTINUE – LUKE BRYAN AND BLAKE SHELTON

Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton won't be exchanging their typical witty banter as co-hosts of the ACM Awards later this year, but that doesn't mean the two aren't going to continue their antics towards each other. Luke and Blake have both changed their respective profile pictures on Twitter this week to older photos of each other. Shelton changed his Twitter profile picture to an old photo of Bryan wearing a cowboy hat with his hands resting on a guitar, while Luke changed his profile picture to a throwback of Blake from his long-haired days. In December, Dierks Bentley was confirmed as Bryan's new co-host at the 51st Annual ACM Awards in Las Vegas this April. The show will air on Sunday, April 3 and will be broadcast live on CBS at 7:00 PM.

SCOTTY MCCREERY: CAROLINA BOY, NEW ENGLAND FAN

Scotty McCreery will sing the national anthem on Saturday when the New England Patriots take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Foxboro, Massachusetts for the divisional playoffs.
He's a life-long Patriots fan, even though he's from North Carolina.

Scotty tells Patriots.com that being a fan of team is in his genes -- his dad is from New England. "He grew up a Boston sports fan, so that’s all he knew, and he passed that down to me here in North Carolina. I’m like the lone wolf, but it’s fun to be a Patriots fan down here because most folks, they’re Pats haters for sure. That makes it more interesting."
Scotty has a lucky charm -- his Patriots toboggan knit hat. He says his team has been winning ever since he started wearing it. He even wore it when they played in Phoenix. He was burning up, but it was worth it.

THROWBACK THURSDAY: CARRIE UNDERWOOD

On this day in 2006, Carrie Underwood's breakout hit “Jesus Take the Wheel” went number-one on the Billboard country chart. Here’s a throwback video of Carrie singing the song at her Grand Ole Opry induction in 2008.

The D.A. Of The Day - Thursday, Jan 14th

SHE MADE A LITTLE MCMISTAKE

A British woman is eating crow after she tried to do a good deed by buying a fast food breakfast for a homeless man -- only to find that the guy was just a badly-dressed dude who didn't need a handout at all.

Claire Varin saw the man, whose name was not released, sitting at a booth looking "disheveled and hungry," and when she saw him open a ketchup packet and eat a squiggle of the condiment, she decided to buy him a meal. But as soon as she walked over with the tray, an employee came over with the man's order, and she says, "He just looked confused. I was mortified. I felt like I was going to die of embarrassment."

Claire says she bolted without placing her own order, adding "My husband keeps laughing at me. He says he's going to follow me around from now on to make sure I don't buy strangers food."

MAKING A MURDERER: HALF- BROTHER OF BRENDAN DASSEY RELEASES MURDER RAP.

One of the relatives of Making A Murderer star and accused murderer Brendan Dassey is hoping to help his brother beat the murder rap with a murder rap of his own -- literally.

While Brendan sits behind bars serving a life sentence, Brad is spitting bars of his own. The song, called "They Didn't Do It," proclaims the innocence of Dassey and Steven Avery

Jabs include lines like, "Not a fair trial, not a fair game. Whole thing's wack, just a lying shame."

Brad says he put 10 hours of his blood, sweat and tears into the track and that he hopes to play the song next time he visits his brother at the Green Bay Correctional Facility.

WONDER WHAT THE RETURN POLICY IS ON THIS?

Don't you just hate it when somebody gets your order wrong? Like you asked for no mayo and got a sandwich slathered in it. Or you said fries and got a baked potato. Or how about ordering a Kindle online and mistakenly being delivered a box with a tumor inside?

James Potten of England received a FedEx package that he assumed was the Kindle e-book reader he had ordered. But when he opened the box he immediately realized that his Kindle probably wasn't inside. The enclosed box was wrapped in a paper seal which read, "Specimen return kit -- Patient tumor specimen enclosed."

Potten saw that the package was sent from an address in California and was intended for London’s Royal Free Hospital. He tried several times to get FedEx to come pick up the package, but couldn't get them to come. He says, "I've been trying to get FedEx to collect it as it is potentially a sample that needs to be tested and sent back with some urgency. I don't know where my Kindle is, but if it is at the Royal Free I'd be happy to do an exchange."

Eventually, the tumor specimen made its way to the hospital, and the next day, Potten received his Kindle.

WELL HEY... NO MORE BEDBUGS..

A Detroit man successfully took care of a nagging bedbug problem, and simultaneously, proved he's one of the dumbest people on the planet.

The unidentified 30-year-old sprayed rubbing alcohol on his couch and his body to combat the annoying little critters. He then sat down and lit a cigarette, which he used to try to burn one of the insects. But of course, the alcohol-soaked couch caught fire and so did his alcohol-soaked body.

The fire then quickly spread to the rest of his eighth-floor apartment. He was able to escape the inferno, but suffered severe burns. Four other apartments were damaged in the fire and a dozen more suffered water damage.

THE D.A. OF THE DAY - 1/13/16 - PRESENTED BY LOWERY'S COMMERCIAL CLEANING

IT WASN'T ME....IT WAS MY TWIN

A suspect in a stabbing attack in Pennsylvania was able to get out of trouble because it wasn't him -- it was his evil twin brother.

Police questioned everyone at the scene, including the nefarious Lance Greenwood. During police questioning, Lance provided his brother Leonard's driver's license. An investigation determined Leonard to be the prime suspect in the case and got a warrant for his arrest. They also circulated his name and photo to the press, and asked for help in apprehending him.

After Leonard found out that he was a wanted man, he discovered that his identical twin Lance had given police his name. This was all straightened out at the police station after Leonard turned his brother in.

The guilty twin was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime with intent, assault, recklessly endangering another person, and providing false identification to law enforcement. The 16-year-old victim is in the hospital in stable condition.

TALK ABOUT A HIGH SPEED CHASE:

A Florida man is likely to spend some time in the joint after leading cops on a long, high-speed chase -- while smoking a freshly-rolled joint!

Andrew Rawlston was tooling along down U.S. Highway 27 near the entrance to the Florida Turnpike when a patrolman noticed one of his pickup's headlights was out. The officer began a regular-speed pursuit, but when Rawlston noticed he was being followed, he floored it, going from 65 to 95 within a few seconds.

A second deputy managed to throw down stop sticks that slowed the vehicle, eventually causing Rawlston to pull over. And when the trooper got to the truck, Rawlston was calmly puffing on a joint, which his girlfriend said he'd lit up during the chase. According to the arrest report, the unidentified woman seemed frightened and angry at Rawlston, but the trooper said the driver didn’t seem to grasp the seriousness of the situation and “actually thought it was funny.”

SELFIE INCRIMINATING!

Picture this -- an Ohio fugitive was so focused on the bad mugshot cops circulated to help catch him that he took a photo he liked better and asked them to send that around instead.
Donald A. "Chip" Pugh had been out on bail after being arrested on arson charges, but decided to bail on his court date, making him a wanted man. Authorities in the town of Lima [pr: LYE-ma] put the 45-year-old's mugshot out on social media and television, which ticked him off since it apparently captured his bad side.

He texted cops a shot showing him behind the wheel, with the plea, "Here is a better photo, that one is terrible," adding "They just did me wrong. They put a picture that made me look like I was a Thundercat or something."
As of now, the new shot is circulating, and Pugh is still at large.
