Muhammad Ali - Dies At The Age of 74

Muhammad Ali: Dead at 74

In a post from earlier today I reported to you that Muhammad Ali was in the hospital suffering from a respiratory condition. It is now being reported that Ali passed away this evening at the age of 74. Ali will be remembered as one of the most recognizable figures worldwide - He was famous for his boxing matches - "The Rumble In The Jungle" "The Thrilla In Manilla" and for his quotes like "Float Like A Butterfly, sting like a bee". Ali, born Cassius Clay, changed his name and converted to Islam in 1964. He also famously refused to enter the Vietnam War in 1967 as a conscientious objector.

Although he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 1984 ... Ali remained very active at international events in and out of the sporting world. His lighting of the Olympic flame at the 1996 Atlanta games is considered one of the most iconic images in Olympic history.
The champ is survived by his wife Yolanda Williams and 9 children -- 7 daughters, 2 sons -- including Laila Ali, who became an undefeated boxing champ herself.

TWANG TOWN LOWDOWN - FRIDAY JUNE 3

JASON ALDEAN: "LIGHTS COME ON"

Jason Aldean is giving everyone a behind-the-scenes look into his Six String Circus tour with this new video for his single "Lights Come On."

JANA KRAMER: SHOOTS DOWN MOMMY SHAMERS

There's one thing Jana Kramer won't deal with: online bullying. On Wednesday, after posting a picture of a rather large baby food purchase for her daughter, Jolie, fans and trolls began commenting with their unsolicited advice, either saying Jolie was too young to eat baby food or pointing out negative facts about jarred food, in general.

A not-so-happy Jana took to Instagram, yesterday (Friday) morning to respond to her haters, posting a handwritten note, giving her thoughts on the matter. It read, "Dear Mommy Shamers, Unless you are Jolie’s doctor, her father, or her mom, do NOT tell me how to raise my child, or how to feed her. Sincerely, Jolie’s MOM."

Jana's friends were worried she wouldn't take well to motherhood, but boy, were they wrong. The songstress seems to be doing just fine.

LITTLE BIG TOWN: WANDERLUST, NOT A COUNTRY ALBUM

Little Big Town is calling Wanderlust -- its upcoming digital release -- a special project produced by Pharrell Williams.

Karen Fairchild tells Billboard, “It’s not a country record and it’s not like anything we’ve ever done.” She adds, “It’s fun to be spontaneous and put it out there to the fans because we want to, and not to overthink it, but just because it has brought us a lot of joy, and we think it will for them as well.”

The eight-track project will be available on June 10th. The group has also been in the studio working on its next country record, which will be out later this year.

THE D.A. OF THE DAY - FRIDAY JUNE 3RD

BENCH PRESSER:

A Florida man gave new meaning to being buried in work -- after snapping on the job and using a front-end loader to run down his boss and try to submerge the guy in fresh dirt.

Erick Cox, who goes by the nickname "Pork Chop," flipped out and dumped a bucketload of soil on Perry Byrd's head, knocking him to the ground -- then continued to pour on dirt until the supervisor was buried past his waist. At that point, Cox reportedly grabbed a shovel and hit Byrd over the head, leading another worker to call 911.

When cops arrived, Cox claimed he'd accidentally buried Byrd's legs in dirt when he "bumped the bucket control-lever as he was reaching for the keys," but a number of eyewitnesses said that was a load of...dirt.

NO GOOD DEED PART 984:

An Arkansas man who tried to break up a bar fight will stick to drinking his beer in the future.

38-year-old Benjamin Gardner is a former probation officer. When a fight broke out at the bar where he was drinking, he attempted to stop it by flashing his old badge. One of the combatants laughed in his face and then knocked him out.

But that's not the worst of it. When he regained consciousness, Gardner was arrested and charged with impersonating an officer, a misdemeanor. He was the only one arrested in the melee.

LOTTERY WINNER A REAL LOSER

A Pennsylvania woman who won a million-dollar lottery last year is accused of purchasing the winning ticket with money she'd stolen from the grocery store where she worked.

51-year-old Joan Lechleitner was arrested along with her fiance, her daughter and her nephew -- all whom worked with her at the store. They're accused of ringing up fake purchases over several years and netting $175,000. It's believed that Lechleitner used some of that money to buy lottery tickets, including the winner, which netted her more than $260,000 after taxes.

All four face multiple charges, including conspiracy, theft and theft by deception. They were all released on $25,000 bail and drove away in Lechleitner's brand new truck.

THE HOTLIST - FRIDAY JUNE 3RD

TAYLOR SWIFT, CALVIN HARRIS: WHO DUMPED WHO?

So who really dumped who?

A source close to Calvin Harris tells the New York Post that it was Taylor Swift who put an end to their relationship, and challenges the sources who told People that he was intimidated by her success. “He’s not intimidated. He’s a global success.”

The unnamed informant also says that he was ring shopping before their romance went south.

Perhaps Calvin said it best when he tweeted, "The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end and what remains is a huge amount of love and respect.” Taylor quickly retweeted the sentiment.

MUHAMMAD ALI: HOSPITALIZED FOR RESPIRATORY ISSUES:

Muhammad Ali was hospitalized Thursday for respiratory issues. In a statement, family spokesman Bob Gunnell says the champ is in "fair condition" and expected to have a brief hospital stay.

The 74-year-old was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 1984. The legendary boxer has been hospitalized several times in recent years, including a bout with pneumonia in 2014.

JOHNNY DEPP: ASSISTANT CLAIMS TEXTS ARE DOCTORED

Johnny Depp's assistant is calling BS on those texts in which he allegedly apologized to Amber Heard for the star's violent behavior.

Stephen Deuters tells TMZ the texts were heavily doctored and that he's willing to testify under oath that he never talked with the actress about any incidence of domestic violence.

Earlier this week Entertainment Tonight published the leaked texts, which were reportedly sent in May 2014, before Johnny and Amber were married. In one message, Stephen allegedly writes, "He's incredibly apologetic and knows that he has done wrong. He wants to get better now. He's been very explicit about that this morning. Feel like we're at a critical juncture." Amber allegedly responds, "Yes but I don't know how to be around him after what he did to me yesterday. I don't know if I can stay with him."

Cole Swindell Shows His Support For Black By Sporting A Shiner

Cole Swindell took supporting his buddy, Dierks Bentley's new album, Black, to another level entirely, when he showed up to Dierks' show sporting a huge black eye. Fans were clearly wondering why Cole was rocking his sunglasses at a nighttime show, so he took them off, showing the crowd exactly what he was hiding, then he proceeded to tell the "story" of what happened.

Cole: “Somebody told me last night, they said, ‘I don’t like Dierks Bentley. You know what I wound up with? This right here. I got a black eye to promote this album.”

Dierks: “Dude, I can’t even look at you. You gotta put these shades back on, man, but y’all give it up for Cole Swindell.”

Although his stage-story was very entertaining, it turns out the only thing Cole got in a "fight" with was a coffee table. Regardless, Dierks was happy to show off Cole's swollen eye in a tweet, saying, "Knew my friend @coleswindell was a fan, but to go get a #blackeye just to support the album...too much. #truebro."

Calvin was briefly hospitalized a car accident on May 20th and is now in Los Angeles after a trip back to the U.K.

This will be the ninth year that Brad and Carrie have hosted the show. The 50th CMA Awards will air on November 2nd live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on ABC.

D.A. OF THE DAY - THURSDAY JUNE 2ND

THAT'S NO BABYSITTER:

Two Idaho children got an unexpected bedtime story when a strange woman walked into their home and started chatting with them without permission -- before going postal and attacking cops sent to remove her from the house.

Rebecca Sue Ann Carter walked through the unlocked door of a stranger's house on Friday night and settled onto the family couch, where she started chatting with the two children who were the only ones in the room at the time. The homeowners heard the conversation and both went to the living room, then asked the clearly-intoxicated 35-year-old to hit the road.

When Carter refused to leave, the unidentified residents called 911 and summoned cops. At that point, Carter went ballistic, punching both responding officers in the face, then kicking at and biting them until they were able to subdue her. The arrest report says she was under the influence of both alcohol and some sort of narcotics.

GRABBING A PIZZA THE ALIMONY:

Although it might sound cheesy to folks on this side of the Atlantic, a judge in Italy has ruled that it's perfectly legal for a man to pay his monthly alimony bill entirely in pizza.

The man, who was identified only as "N.T." in court papers, runs a pizza joint in the town of Padua. He began sending his ex-wife hot pies instead of hot cash -- which left her with a case of heartburn so bad that she called a lawyer. But when the unhappy couple got in front of the judge, who happens to be female, the court ruled that a month's worth of slices qualified as payment enough.

For the record, the guy's agreement calls for him to send just over $300 per month to his ex, which translates to a pie a day. Here's hoping she's not lactose intolerant.

Kid Calls 911 on Dad.. For Running a Red Light

A five-year-old boy in Massachusetts has a bright future in law enforcement after ratting out his own father.

The kid, whose name is Robbie, was riding in the back of his father's car when he noticed that his dad ran a red light. So Robbie said he was going to call the police to report that he broke the law. Robbie's father explained to him that he made a right turn on red and that he was allowed to do that. But Robbie wasn't buying it and when they got home, he dialed 9-1-1 to report the violation.

He told the dispatcher, "My daddy went past a red light." The dispatcher then asked what happened next. Robbie said, "We had to go to the car wash and then he went past the red light." At that point, the dispatcher asked to speak to his father. Robbie's embarrassed dad got on the line, chuckled and said, "Oh no, I apologize." He assured the dispatcher that there was no emergency and no ticket was issued.

A concerned Carrie tweeted back, "What the what?! I hope you're alright! It was great to get to see you! Thanks for risking your life to be there!"

WOOF WOOF, NOT BOOM BOOM:

Stoned Man Claims to Be Shot in Butt -- Bitten by Dog, Say Police

A Texas man smoking pot at home got so stoned that he freaked out and thought he had been shot in the rear end.

Police in a small town outside of Waco received a call from a man in a mobile home saying he had been shot. Officers sent to investigate determined that what the man thought was a gunshot was actually a dog bite in the butt. It's believed that the man's pet was spooked by thunder and took a chunk out of the owner. The man was treated at the scene and released.

THIS IS NOT HOW YOU GET A HEAD IN LIFE:

You can't fix stupid. You can't wash it, either. A Chinese man trying to fix his washing machine made the mistake of sticking his head inside to get a better look at the drum -- and got stuck.

Friends tried to lube him up and pull his head free, but that didn't work. It took six firemen 40 minutes to saw through the machine to finally free him. He suffered only minor cuts but the washing machine is irreparable.

SPEEDSTER USES COMMON CENTS:

A Texas man, angry that he was given a speeding ticket for driving 39 mph in a 30 mph zone, protested the ticket by paying the fine in pennies.

Brett Sanders fought the $212 ticket in court and lost. When it came time to pay up, he walked into the municipal courthouse with buckets of pennies and dumped them all over the clerk's desk. He explained, "I didn't hurt anybody. I didn't endanger anybody's life. When my fine came due, I just decided I may as well pay with pennies and we'll make a big spectacle of it."

The hilarious moment was captured on video and uploaded to YouTube. The office staff had to spend three hours picking up the pennies and counting them. In the end, Sanders actually overpaid by more than 700 cents, which he didn't want back.

HOTLIST - Wednesday June 1st

THE BIGGEST LOSER: UNDER INVESTIGATION

The Biggest Loser could be in big trouble. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office is investigating the weight-loss show for allegedly giving contestants illegal narcotics.

This comes on the heels of a study that suggested the show may have permanently lowered contestants' metabolisms. Soon after that, 2008 contestant Joelle Gwynn claimed a trainer offered her drugs to help her lose weight. And season two contestant Suzanne Mendonca has threatened to sue, saying the show ruined her life and also alleging that contestants were given drugs.

In a statement, producers tell The Hollywood Reporter, "We believe these allegations are without merit and false. The safety and well-being of our contestants is, and has always been, paramount. Contestants are told at the start of the show that there is zero tolerance for any weight loss drugs. We prohibit the use of any illegal substances, in addition to the many other rules and procedures of the show that are designed to ensure safety."

THE SHIELD: STAR MICHAEL JACE GUILTY OF MURDER:

Michael Jace, who starred on The Shield, was found guilty of killing his wife Tuesday.

The 53-year-old shot April Jace in front of their two young sons in 2014. The actor, who played an LAPD officer on the FX series, was supposedly upset that she wanted a divorce.

The guilty verdict came after a weeklong trial. He faces 40 years to life in prison when he's sentenced June 10th.

THIS "O.G." DEFENDS RE-BOOT:

Dan Aykroyd has defended the new female-led Ghostbusters, which has been getting some hate online. On Facebook, the original Ghostbuster wrote, "Apart from brilliant, genuine performances from the cast both female and male, it has more laughs and more scares than the first 2 films plus Bill Murray is in it!" The reboot, starring Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy, opens July 15th.

ANOTHER KARDASHIAN HAS A TV SHOW:

It's official -- Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna are getting their own spinoff reality show on E! The show, Rob and Chyna, will premiere before the end of the year.

TWANG TOWN LOWDOWN - TUESDAY. MAY 31ST

RANDY HOUSER: SEE PICS OF THE BIG DAY!

We're finally getting to see pictures from Randy Houser and Tatiana Starzynski's May 4th wedding at the Homestead Manor outside of Nashville.

People published the gorgeous pictures, including shots of Randy's son West, who served as his ring bearer, as well as some of his more famous guests -- including Lee Brice, Florida Georgia Line's Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, Jamey Johnson, Dierks Bentley andJerrod Niemann.

BLAKE & GWEN: NO PROPOSAL - NO REJECTION

No, Gwen Stefani didn't reject Blake Shelton's marriage proposal. That's because, according to Gossip Cop, it never happened.

Last week, tabloid reports said that Blake had hidden a million-dollar engagement ring at the bottom of a bucket of fried chicken, and that when Gwen saw it, she turned her man down. According to those reports, she's worried about the age difference between her and Blake's ex, Miranda Lambert, and thinks he may not be ready to settle down like she has.

One problem: No such ring ever existed, at least if you believe Gossip Cop. The site says it can "exclusively report" that no such proposal ever occurred.

LEE BRICE: FIXES UP FALLEN SOLDIER'S TRUCK

Back in April, Lee Brice helped the widow of Troy Gilbert, an F-16 pilot killed in action in 2006, find her husband's old truck that he had sold right before he left for his deployment. Lee and his management team tracked down the truck and gave it to her during his set at the ACM Party for a Cause.

Little did the family know, Lee had much bigger plans in store for the truck, which he revealed to Gilbert’s family on the morning of Memorial Day. He couldn’t have picked a more fitting day to, once again, hand over the keys to their fallen soldier’s truck, which had been completely revamped. The truck now features Gilbert’s squadron on the front, his patches in the headrests, along with his silhouette on the tailgate.

Lee is set to play several festivals across the nation this summer.

DUSTIN LYNCH: FASHION MOGUL

Dustin Lynch has quietly launched Stay Country, a fashion and lifestyle brand which includes hats, T-shirts and accessories.

The singer had the idea in mind before he ever had a hit. He says, “If my music had not taken off, I would have been further down the road with this by now. Aside from my music, it’s the number-one focus in my life."

One thing you will not find in the line is his name plastered all over the apparel, which he wants to keep separate from his music.

Check out the line at StayCountryClothing.com.

THE D.A. OF THE DAY - TUESDAY, MAY 31ST

BOOZY BULLDOZER BUST:

An Alaska man who was hellbent on getting smashed decided to do it by smashing through the front window of a liquor store -- driving a stolen bulldozer.

Joseph Martin ran the front-end loader through the front of the spirit shop on Thursday, then climbed out and loaded the cab with armfuls of bottles he swiped off shelves. Cops responding to the scene had to pursue Martin on a long low-speed chase, during which he helped himself to a goodly bit of the borrowed booze, resulting in DUI accusations as well as the theft and vandalism charges.

A witness told police, "He's obviously a good driver, 'cause he was drunk off his butt but he was still driving really good. He didn't hit a car or nothing — and making those wide turns — he must have experience driving around the loaders or something."

BANKING BAD:

A Texas man made a real deposit "slip" by handing a bank teller a large stack of bills -- along with nearly a gram of crystal meth!

Louis Fueque Kent pulled into a drive-up window at the First Bank in Wichita Falls and dropped his deposit into the tube in front of the clerk, who opened the envelope and found the cash, a few checks and a folded up piece of paper that contained just under a gram of the drug. Since the deposit slip included Kent's name and address, cops had no trouble finding the 73-year-old and booking him on drug charges.

Clearly, a gram of meth would generate plenty of interest -- even at today's rates.

STALKER CAN'T KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT

A Pennsylvania man arrested for stalking a Philadelphia TV news reporter has not yet mastered the skill of keeping his big mouth shut.

32-year-old Christopher Nilan became obsessed with the female reporter and stalked her for a few months before he was finally arrested in January. He received an intermediate sentence, which will keep him locked up in jail until June 25th, after which he'll be confined to his house and monitored with a ankle bracelet for two years. Then he'll be on probation for 13 years.

After hearing all that, Nilan told the court he plans to resume his stalking as soon as his probation ends. He said, "I'm not going to give it up. I want to be with her. I'm the only person who can protect her."

The judge told him he needs to give up his fixation or face more jail time.

The HOTLIST - TUESDAY, MAY 31ST

MAMA JUNE: COMING TO A STRIP CLUB NEAR YOU...

Here's a sentence you probably never wanted to hear: Mama June is going on a strip-club tour.

Honey Boo Boo's mother is getting paid somewhere around $20,000 to appear at four different clubs around the country, including one in Las Vegas. But she's not part of the act -- she's just doing meet-and-greets.

This is actually June's second time hitting the strip-club circuit. She's apparently brought in big crowds to clubs earlier this year.

JOHNNY DEPP: HEARD  GRANTED RESTRAINING ORDER

Amber Heard was granted a temporary restraining order against Johnny Depp Friday after claiming he abused her.

The actress reportedly showed the judge photos of bruises she claims is from past assaults and said she also has video of an alleged altercation. Amber, who filed for divorce last Monday, says Johnny's abuse was triggered by drugs and alcohol.

His rep released a statement saying, “Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life. Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.”

Though Johnny is staying mum on the allegations, his friends and family are coming to his defense. His ex Vanessa Paradis calls the domestic violence allegations “outrageous” and insists that he had “never been physically abusive” to her during their 14-year relationship.

His daughter with Paradis, Lily-Rose, posted a photo on Instagram of herself as a baby with her father and wrote, “My dad is the sweetest most loving person I know.” She added, “He’s been nothing but a wonderful father to my little brother and I, and everyone who knows him would say the same.”

Comedian Doug Stanhope, a friend of the actor, wrote a column for The Wrap claiming Amber is blackmailing his friend. Stanhope wrote that Depp once told him his wife was “threatening to lie about him publicly in any and every possible duplicitous way if he didn’t agree to her terms.”

Johnny and Amber, who wed 15 months ago, don't have a pre-nup.

THE OSBOURNES: MARRIAGE COUNSELING

Ozzy Osbourne is incapable of taking care of himself.

He’s desperate to reconcile with Sharon Osbourne, who feeds and clothes Ozzy on a daily basis. A friend claims Ozzy’s been “groveling.”

She demanded they enter marriage counseling to talk through their recent separation. Ozzy agreed. He badly needs Sharon back and “he’ll go to any lengths necessary to repair the damage.”

So they recently sat down with a therapist. Ozzy probably did a lot of listening, while Sharon did all the talking.

CHARLIE SHEEN: SHEEN-OJIS

Charlie Sheen has gotten into the emoji game.

Following in the footsteps of Kim Kardashian and Ariana Grande, the actor has released Sheenojis. The 100 Sheen-inspired icons include his catchphrase "Winning!" and a caricature of his Hot Shots character, Topper Harley.

According to the app's description, "Sheenoji, Charlie Sheen's official emoji keyboard app, lets you share your inner Charlie with the world. Bring your tiger's blood to a boil! Release your inner man's man. Fire a torpedo of truth into the technosphere. And above all, be POSITIVELY NEGATIVE!"

The emojis should help Charlie pay his bills. His ex Brooke Mueller claims he owes $89,000 in back child support, and he was recently sued for owing nearly $300,000 in credit card debt.
