CERTIFIED PLATINUM – CARRIE UNDERWOOD
Carrie Underwood has earned a Platinum certification by the RIAA for her first compilation record, Greatest Hits: Decade #1. What makes this accomplishment even more exciting is the fact that Underwood is the only country artist – and one of only six all-genre artists – to release a Platinum album since the release of her Greatest Hits: Decade #1 record in December of 2014. The 25-song album features hits from the first 10 years of Carrie's career and also introduced two new #1 songs: the Grammy-winning "Something in the Water," as well as "Little Toy Guns," which is currently nominated for Best Country Solo Performance at the 2016 Grammy Awards. The 58th Annual Grammy Awards will be held February 15, 2016, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS at 7PM.
Underwood earned her 7th Grammy Award at last year's show, winning for Best Country Solo Performance for "Something in the Water." Carrie -- who was pregnant at the time -- wasn't able to attend last year's Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, but she did watch the show from her home in Nashville.
THE ANTICS CONTINUE – LUKE BRYAN AND BLAKE SHELTON
Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton won't be exchanging their typical witty banter as co-hosts of the ACM Awards later this year, but that doesn't mean the two aren't going to continue their antics towards each other. Luke and Blake have both changed their respective profile pictures on Twitter this week to older photos of each other. Shelton changed his Twitter profile picture to an old photo of Bryan wearing a cowboy hat with his hands resting on a guitar, while Luke changed his profile picture to a throwback of Blake from his long-haired days. In December, Dierks Bentley was confirmed as Bryan's new co-host at the 51st Annual ACM Awards in Las Vegas this April. The show will air on Sunday, April 3 and will be broadcast live on CBS at 7:00 PM.
SCOTTY MCCREERY: CAROLINA BOY, NEW ENGLAND FAN
Scotty McCreery will sing the national anthem on Saturday when the New England Patriots take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Foxboro, Massachusetts for the divisional playoffs.
He's a life-long Patriots fan, even though he's from North Carolina.
Scotty tells Patriots.com that being a fan of team is in his genes -- his dad is from New England. "He grew up a Boston sports fan, so that’s all he knew, and he passed that down to me here in North Carolina. I’m like the lone wolf, but it’s fun to be a Patriots fan down here because most folks, they’re Pats haters for sure. That makes it more interesting."
Scotty has a lucky charm -- his Patriots toboggan knit hat. He says his team has been winning ever since he started wearing it. He even wore it when they played in Phoenix. He was burning up, but it was worth it.
THROWBACK THURSDAY: CARRIE UNDERWOOD
On this day in 2006, Carrie Underwood's breakout hit “Jesus Take the Wheel” went number-one on the Billboard country chart. Here’s a throwback video of Carrie singing the song at her Grand Ole Opry induction in 2008.
