The late David Bowie could possibly have his first number one album on “Billboard’s 200” with his just released “Blackstar.”
The album was released on Bowie’s birthday, January 8th, could sell 130-thousand albums in its first week of release, landing it at number one on the chart. Bowie died just two days after the album was released after battling cancer for 18 months.
Should he attain the number one spot, he will bump Adele, who has held that slot for seven consecutive weeks.
“His death was no different from his life – a work of Art,” says producer Tony Visconti via Facebook. “He made “Blackstar” for us, his parting gift."
ALAN RICKMAN: DEAD AT 69
Alan Rickman, the veteran English actor known for his roles as Severus Snape in the Harry Potter movies, as well as Hans Gruber in Die Hard and the Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, passed away today in London. He was 69.
Rickman's family confirmed his death saying he died "surrounded by family and friends," and added that he had been suffering from cancer. Rickman is also remembered for his roles in Truly, Madly, Deeply, Sense and Sensibility, and Love Actually. He is survived by his wife Rima Horton, whom he met when he was 19.
GEORGE CLOONEY: HUGE ENGLISH ESTATE FLOODED
George Clooney better grab a bucket. His home in England is being destroyed by a great flood.
The River Thames has burst its banks and Clooney’s huge $15 million dollar estate is four acres adjacent to the river. His pool, gardens, and garage are threatened. Just a couple more feet of the river rising and his home will be inundated.
Clooney just got finished refurbishing the 17th century estate, too.
NICK CARTER: ARRESTED IN KEY WEST
Nick Carter spent the night in jail after getting into a bar fight at a popular spot in Key West, Florida.
The former Backstreet Boys singer and Dancing With the Stars runner-up was arrested at the Hog's Breath Saloon after he and a friend were involved in a fight with bouncers. Nick and the friend were drunk and unruly and refused to leave the bar.Staffers kicked the two out of the club and Carter attempted to choke a bouncer. He was charged with battery and is still in custody.
This isn't his first arrest. Carter was busted in a bar fight in 2002 and also arrested for drunk driving in 2005.
FRIENDS: REUNION COMING TO NBC
Ross and Rachel are getting back together again, along with the rest of the Friends cast.
NBC announced yesterday that the cast will reunite for a two-hour special paying tribute to James Burrows, the legendary television director who, aside from Friends, also directed episodes of Cheers, Taxi, Frasier and The Big Bang Theory.
All six original cast members; Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer have all said they will take part in the special, although they may not all be together. The special will air on February 21st.
