THE HOTLIST - PRESENTED BY TWIN LAKES - 1/13/16

NFL: Rams Headed To Los Angles; Chargers Have Option to Join

NFL owners voted to allow the St. Louis Rams to move to a new stadium just outside Los Angeles, and the San Diego Chargers will have the option to share the facility.  The Oakland Raiders, who also wanted to move to the area, could move to Los Angeles if San Diego doesn’t, commissioner Roger Goodell said.  The moves end the NFL’s 21 year absence from the nation’s second largest media market.  The Chargers can continue to negotiate with San Diego for a new stadium deal while keeping the option of joining the Rams and owner Stan Kroenke at the $1.8 billion dollar complex they will be building in Inglewood.  The Rams, who were based in the L.A. area from 1946 to 1994, will play in a temporary facility – probably the Los Angeles Coliseum – until the new stadium is ready for the 2019 season.  The league will give $100 million dollars to the Chargers and the Raiders if either team builds a new stadium in its current market.

STAR WARS: MILES TELLER, DAVE FRANCO UP FOR HAN SOLO ROLE

Thousands of actors have auditioned to play the young Han Solo in a new Star Wars spinoff, and now the producers have narrowed the field down to about a dozen actors.
Sources tell Variety that the front-runners are Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Dave Franco, Scott Eastwood and Logan Lerman. A decision is expected in the next couple of weeks.

Though the Han Solo flick doesn't come up until 2018, it's believed that producers want to sign up an actor early so he can appear in another Star Wars spin-off, Rogue One, which comes out at the end of this year.

NEW DUET SINGLE – CHRIS YOUNG

Chris Young's duet with Cassadee Pope, "Think Of You," is heading to country radio as his next single. Young was happy to work with Pope on his fifth studio album, I'm Comin' Over, and the fact that their duet is being released as a single is even better. Chris says of the track, "I love having Cassadee Pope on this song. I think she is a phenomenal singer and is the exact, perfect way to complete that song the way I wanted. It's one of my favorite tracks on the record." Chris recalls how the duet came to be recorded, saying, "I was playing an acoustic show with Cassadee, and she started her first song, and the minute she opened her mouth, it clicked. We were right in the beginning stages of 'who do we get to do this?' and I said, 'I'm asking her right when I get off this stage.'"  "Think Of You" has an official airplay impact date of January 25.

Cassadee is actually a special guest on Chris' current 2016 "I'm Comin' Over Tour," and she says playing the song together every night will surely become one of the highlights of the trek. Pope shares, "Knowing that we'll get to perform 'Think Of You' together for all of our fans definitely builds another layer of excitement to heading out on tour with Chris." The next show on the tour will be in Lowell, Massachusetts, on January 21.

BURGLARY IS A DOUBLE EDGED SWORD

Of all the homes in Athens, Georgia to break into, two burglars happened to pick one belonging to Kenneth Driskell -- a dedicated sword collector.

The 21-year-old homeowner heard people in his house, so he put on some shoes, grabbed one of his swords off the wall and welcomed the two burglars to his house. They took off running, and Driskell chased them down the street while calling 911.

By the time he got through to police, they informed him that units were already on their way because a neighbor had called to report a crazy person chasing two guys with a giant sword.

Police were eventually able to catch 18-year-old William Walker and his 17-year-old brother. They were arrested and charged with theft.

DRAFT KING OR JESTER?

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

A Florida man with an active fantasy life thinks he has a crack at getting hired as head coach of a National Football League team -- due to his extensive experience in the world of fantasy football.

Andrew Forgino threw his hat into the ring for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' vacancy as  soon as he heard the team had dumped coach Lovie Smith after just two seasons. Forgino, who also applied for an astronaut gig around the same time, has never drawn a football-related paycheck, according to his wife, but he still believes he has the skills to turn the sub-.500 team around.

In his application letter, the former Marine wrote, "I’m a well-rounded fantasy football manager. I know how to manage players. I see undervalued players in the waiver wire and I know how to patchwork a team together. They all congeal and they look up to me as a coach."

As of Monday afternoon, the Bucs have yet to hire a new coach, so he's still in the running.

SALAD GIVES WOMAN THE FINGER

Applebee's has some explaining to do after a woman pointed at her salad and the salad pointed right back.

Cathleen Martin of Paso Robles, California says she was with her family at the restaurant and ordered a Chinese chicken salad, which came with an unexpected add-in -- a severed fingertip.

She called the manager over and showed him the detached digit, which was confirmed to belong to one of the cooks in the kitchen. Martin says she and her family all ate a little bit of the salad and has filed an official claim. She's also retained a lawyer. Applebee's says the cook has agreed to undergo a series of health tests to determine if the family is at risk for contracting anything.

DO YOU WANT FRIES WITH THAT?

A Florida man earned himself quite a grilling when he was pulled over for suspected drunk driving -- and handed the patrolman who'd stopped him a Ruby Tuesday's coupon instead of his driver's license.

The man, whose name was not released by cops, was swerving between lanes before hitting a median, leading the officer to go in for a closer look. When he did, he noticed the driver smelled strongly of alcohol, as well as vomit -- which was splattered all over his shirt. Asked if he'd thrown up on himself, the motorist said he didn't know -- and didn't seem entirely sure of where he was going, or where he'd just come from.

When the deputy demanded a driver's license, the man pulled out the burger coupon, and when told what the mistake was, he brought out another Ruby Tuesday’s coupon and asked, “Is this my driver license right here?”
After blowing a 0.219 and a 0.205 on breath tests, he was taken in on DUI charges.

I'LL BET YOU CAN'T....

An Indian man who has never been one to back away from a dare recently underwent four hours of surgery to remove a set of iron tongs from inside his body.

The 27-year-old's friends challenged him to swallow the utensil and didn't think he would be able to. Unfortunately, he lacks that all-important brain cell that distinguishes a bad idea and went ahead and did it. The tongs ended up getting stuck in his wind pipe and caused internal injuries.

Doctors were shocked when they saw his X-ray. They performed surgery to remove it and he is now listed in stable condition.

PLANE DROPS A DEUCE, HITS WOMAN...

A woman in India is recovering from a shoulder injury that she suffered when she was hit by a frozen chunk of human waste that fell from an airplane.

The 60-year-old was sitting inside her house when the icy toilet chunk crashed through the roof and struck her shoulder. Experts believe the chunk was "blue ice," a frozen mixture of urine and feces, which fell from an airplane toilet as it flew above the house. They also say the woman was very lucky that it didn't land on her head.

THE PASSING OF A ROCK LEGEND: DAVID BOWIE DEAD AT 69

Just days after his 69th birthday and the release of his latest album, BlackstarDavid Bowie died Sunday after an “18-month battle with cancer,” according to a post on his official Facebook and Twitter accounts.
The posts were confirmed by Bowie’s press rep.

The full post reads, “David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.”

Bowie's son, Duncan Jones, also confirmed his father’s death on Twitter, writing, “Very sorry and sad to say it’s true. I’ll be offline for a while. Love to all.”

One of the most important figures in the history of rock, Bowie was born David Robert Jones on January 8th, 1947 in South London. He rose to prominence in 1969 with the British hit “Space Oddity,” having adopted the surname Bowie to avoid confusion with Monkees singer Davy Jones, and went on to have one of the most successful, influential and lengthy careers in rock history.

He earned the nickname the Chameleon of Rock for his ever-changing look and ability to switch musical styles. Bowie first gained notice as a singer/songwriter, but soon latched onto the burgeoning glam-rock scene with the invention of his androgynous alter-ego Ziggy Stardust and 1972’s landmark album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars.

By 1975, he re-invented himself as a blue-eyed soul singer scoring hit single “Fame” from the album Young Americans.

After the commercial success, he took another left turn by collaborating with producer Brian Eno on a trio of albums, including “Heroes,”recorded in Berlin. The title track from that album became one of Bowie’s most enduring songs, with the singer notably performing it atThe Concert for New York, a tribute to 9/11 first responders.
Bowie enjoyed another career resurgence in 1983 with the album Let’s Dance, co-produced with Chic’s Nile Rodgers. The album spawned three huge hits – the title track, “Modern Love” and “China Girl.”

He also enjoyed success as an actor, appearing in the lead role in a Broadway production of The Elephant Man in 1980 and ’81, and starring in a number of films, including 1976’s The Man Who Fell to Earth, 1983’s The Hunger and Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence.
In 2004, Bowie suffered a heart attack while performing in Germany and had emergency angioplasty. As a result of his health scare, he dramatically curtailed live appearances and recording.

On January 8th, 2013, he surprised fans with the news The Next Day, his first studio album in a decade, would be released. His new album, Blackstar, also came as somewhat of a surprise. It features Bowie and a group of New York jazz musicians performing seven songs. The title track doubles as the theme for a new European crime drama series called The Last Panthers. Another song, "Lazarus," is the title track to Bowie's off-Broadway musical, which runs until January 20th.

Bowie is survived by his wife, model-turned-businesswoman Iman, their daughter Alexandria Zahra Jones and his son, Duncan Jones.

LINDSAY LOHAN: TOSSED FROM NYC BAR

Lindsay Lohan had to be physically removed from a New York City bar Friday night after she locked herself in a bathroom for 20 minutes.

A witness told Radar Online, "She walked in off the street and made a beeline for the bathroom. The bartender knocked on the door after she was there around 20 minutes.”
As the bartender pried her out of the bathroom, Lindsay became “aggressive and belligerent.” Also, “her eyes were glazed over.” She drunkenly slurred racist comments to the West African bartender.

One of the bar’s patrons revealed, “Lindsay spat in our friend’s face. The bar then erupted and everyone was yelling at her to leave.”

SEAN PENN: INTERVIEWED EL CHAPO

Sean Penn knew the whereabouts of El Chapo long before authorities. That's because the actor did a face-to-face interview with the fugitive last year for Rolling Stone. The article was released Saturday, one day after the drug kingpin was captured.

The star secretly met the fugitive in October deep in the Mexican jungle, surrounded by 100 of his soldiers. It's believed the interview led to El Chapo's arrest on Friday, though Penn says he did his best to keep the meeting secret, using burner phones and avoiding contact with federal agents.

A source in the Mexican government tells ABC News that the interview led to El Chapo’s capture but didn't explain how. The official also says Penn and Mexican actress Kate del Castillo, who accompanied him at the interview, are now under investigation.

In the interview, El Chapo tells Penn that he supplies “more heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana than anybody else in the world” and calls Donald Trump "mi amigo."
