Keith Urban's Father Placed in Hospice Care:
Keith Urban's friends and family members were in Nashville on Tuesday night for the opening celebration of his Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum exhibit "Keith Urban So Far …," but one of the singer's closest family members – his father Robert Urban – was not there. Keith tells The Tennessean that his father recently was placed in hospice care, which he says has affected him greatly in the last few days. Urban says of his father, "He's probably only got a few weeks, if that. I've just been dealing with that the last couple of days. This has all come at a very strange time where it's typical of a career that has extreme highs and extreme lows all often at the exact same time. So (the Hall of Fame exhibit) is bittersweet a little bit because (my dad) is the catalyst for all of this. My dad is the catalyst for me living in America." Keith largely credits his father's love of country music for inspiring him to become an artist and move to Nashville. Among the many sentimental artifacts on display in the new exhibit are the stage outfits Urban's father made for him when he was a kid. The exhibit will run through May of 2016.
Chris Young Forced To Postpone Show:
A bout of strep throat caused Chris Young to postpone last night's (12/3) scheduled show at the Amsoil Arena in Duluth, Minnesota. Young announced the news on Twitter yesterday, saying, "Hey guys, I'm battling a case of strep throat, I never want to disappoint you, but I've been advised by doctors that I can’t perform today." Chris said in the message that the Duluth show would be rescheduled for a date in early 2016 and that previously purchased tickets will be honored at that show. Refunds will also be available at the point of purchase for those who cannot make the rescheduled date. Young wrapped up his message saying, "Again, I'm really sorry to let you down, but I plan to see you in early 2016. Love you guys!" Chris took to Twitter on Tuesday (12/1) to say he wasn't feeling well. He tweeted, "101 fever!! Show tonight might get weird y'all haha."
Young's website has an upcoming date at Duluth's Amsoil Arena scheduled on January 9. It appears that Chris' upcoming dates scheduled in Rochester, Minnesota, tonight (12/4) and Green Bay, Wisconsin, tomorrow (12/5) have also been postponed until next month. His website has the Green Bay date scheduled for January 7 and Rochester date set for January 8. His website now has no dates scheduled for the remainder of 2015.
Touching Dedication For Little Big Town
Little Big Town was honored during Wednesday night's sixth-annual CMT Artists of the Year ceremony in Nashville, but only two of the band members were in attendance to accept the honor. Jimi Westbrook and Karen Fairchild weren't at the ceremony because they were spending time with family after Jimi's sister, Joyce, passed away from cancer on Sunday (11/29). During their acceptance speech, Kimberly Schlapman and Phillip Sweet accepted the award on the band's behalf and sent love to their fellow bandmates during this difficult time. Kimberly said, "Family has always been most important to us and tonight Karen and Jimi's family are going through some of their very darkest days. Jimi's sister passed away from cancer three days ago. They're with their family and we wouldn't have it any other way. We're so glad they're there." Schlapman also spoke about the kind of person Joyce was and even dedicated the CMT Artist of the Year award to her honor. Kimberly said, "When we think about Joyce we think about her spirit and her love and her gorgeous smile and her incredible personality and the fight she gave that horrible disease. Tonight, Joyce, this is for you." Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line and Sam Hunt were also honored during the CMT Artists of the Year ceremony.
Randy Houser Enjoying Being A Headliner
After performing sold-out concerts on Luke Bryan's "Kick The Dust Up Tour" all year, Randy Houser is ready to show fans what his headlining shows are all about. Houser launched his headlining "We Went Tour" last month with three packed-in shows in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio, and continued through the post-Thanksgiving weekend with additional stops in Michigan and Indiana. Randy says his show has evolved a lot this year, and the headlining run gives him the chance to do things he's always wanted to do out on tour. Houser shares, "It's been a really big year for us; we got to meet so many new fans while we were out with Luke and I'm just excited to go out with this tour and show them what a Randy Houser show is all about. We plan to keep them on their toes!" The "We Went Tour" continues tomorrow (12/4) when it rolls into La Crosse, Wisconsin, with special guests Frankie Ballard andCraig Campbell.
